Since Roatan Ferry was born on May 29th, 1994, Safeway Maritime Transportation Company has proved to be the most reliable passenger and cargo transportation service to and from Roatan to mainland Honduras. After 12 years of working in our terminal in the busy downtown area of Coxen Hole, Roatan Ferry´s terminal moved to Dixon Cove in 2006 to the new and modern facilities of Carl O. McNab Terminal. This new and accessible terminal is better and improved. Better located and closer to the main towns in Roatan and spacious free parking area with private security to guarantee your safety. Also, our terminal in La Ceiba is spacious and accessible, located in La Ceiba municipal docks.
Our yachts have also changed in the course of time. The original M/V Tropical carried only 115 passengers and travelled to and from Roatan to La Ceiba in 1 hour and 45 minutes. yacht, M/V Galaxy II, had a capacity of 365 passengers and reduced travel time to 1 hour and 30 minutes.
In August 2006, Galaxy Wave becomes the newest member of Roatan Ferry. This 152 foot catamaran yacht, equipped with four 1,825 horsepower engines with jet propulsion can carry 460 passenger and make its trip in an impressive record time of 1 hour and 10 minutes, thus reducing waiting time and improving the trip experience for all passengers.
